Ribbon Flower

Recipe:

Stamps- Curly Cute

Inks: Chocolate Chip

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzaz, Greenhouse Gala DSP

Accessories: Early Espresso 5/8" Satin Ribbon, small paper flower and pearl

How to make Satin Ribbon Flower:

We learned how to make this ribbon at Convention this summer. I thought it would take a lot of time to make but it is very quick and easy. The tighter you wrap the ribbon the more the flower sticks up. I like to make mine fairly flat...

Step 1- Cut a 16" piece of 5/8" Satin ribbon. Then make slits at 1/2" to 3/4" intervals across the whole piece of ribbon.

Step 2- Round each petal top like this.

Step 3- Then heat the rounded petals with the heat gun until it curls. The more it curls the more the flower sticks up as well.

 

Step 4- Take 1 3/4" Circle Punch and matching cardstock and punch circle. Then cover circle with sticky strip. (Sorry the next 2 pictures our blurry...)

Step 5- Peel off red backing from sticky strip and start wrapping the ribbon around the circle from the outside in.

Step 6-Continue to wrap ribbon until it ends with the last petal in the center.. It is good to put a brad, pearl or button in the center to hide the end. Here is the finished flower.

Here is the breakdown…Stampin’ Up! is KEEPING 25 of the current 48 colors.  (So…if there are some colors that are NOT on this chart that you can’t live without…STOCK UP NOW!!!  DO NOT WAIT UNTIL JUNE 1st as YOU WILL NOT GET IT!)  They are BRING BACK 7 of the previous InColors (Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, River Rock, Wild Wasabi) and keeping 3 of the current InColors (Melon Mambo, Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry).  Now there is going to be a total of 40 Core Colors and so they are ADDING 5 new (PERMANENT) colors to the collection (Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist).  That makes up the new color line-up!

Now the NEXT BIG change has to do with the InColors.  Each year we will get 5 NEW INCOLORS..but unlike previous years where they are only around for 1 year, these colors will be available for TWO YEARS!  So this year we get 5 NEW INCOLORS (staying for two years) and then NEXT year we get 5 NEW INCOLORS (staying for two years).  I am delighted with this change!  A year just goes by too fast for the new in colors.
